Insurance as well as local building and fire codes demand an annual inspection of all portable fire safety tanks and equipment. Code fire is equip and licensed to perform this inspection on all brands, classes, designs and chemicals associated with your portable fire extinguishers
This inspection includes
- making sure psi, fluid levels and gauge function are all properly maintained
- hose inspection and tightening
- checking for the tank is hung at its proper height and location
- checking to ensure tanks fall in acceptable dating for recharge and hydrotest
- ensuring the tanks have no structural damage or wear
- all stickers and instructional information is readable and intact
- dry chemical tanks have proper movement of materials
- if dry chemical has settled and packed - loosen the material to make all material will discharge
- tag and date each tank to ensure each has passed inspection for local AHJ/insurance

K Type fire extinguishers are used for a superior extinguishing of grease and cooking fires. The suppression chemical used in these units is the same chemicals used in kitchen fire suppression systems and allows for the user to extinguish a cooking fire rapidly before it has to chance to get out of control. Wet chemical tanks also allow for the user to extinguish a fire before it has the chance to set their fire suppression system off.

Manufacturer specifications and code compliances calls for all extinguishers to have a recharge at certain periods of their lifespan. Also fired tanks can be recharged and reused if necessary. Both dry and wet chemical can have this service provided on their tanks.
5 year recharging - K Type wet chemical extinguishers call for a 5 year mandatory maintenance of their tanks. This 5 year maintenance is required in order to keep a wet chemical extinguisher up to date with its' code compliances. This periodic maintenance calls for the thorough cleaning and drying of the tank, replacing the wet chemical liquid and recharging the tank up to its required psi or optimal use and function.
6 yr recharging - ABC dry chemical extinguishers call for a 6 year mandatory maintenance of their tanks. This 6 year maintenance is required in order to keep a dry chemical extinguisher up to date with its' code compliances. This periodic maintenance calls for the thorough cleaning and drying of the tank, replacing the dry chemical powder and recharging the tank up to its required psi or optimal use and function.
All tanks: dry chemical, wet chemical and fire suppression tanks require a 12 yr mandatory maintenance hydrostatic test to remain code compliant. This test ensures that the tank and its parts are still up to the task and reliability to provide the proper fire safety and extinguishing ability required during a fire.
