Service and Maintenance

Recharge

Manufacturer specifications and code compliances calls for all  extinguishers to have a recharge at certain periods of their lifespan.   Also fired tanks can be recharged and reused if necessary.  Both dry and wet chemical can have this service provided on their tanks.

5 year recharging - K Type wet chemical extinguishers call for a 5 year mandatory maintenance of their tanks.  This 5 year maintenance is required in order to keep a wet chemical extinguisher up to date with its' code compliances.  This periodic maintenance calls for the thorough cleaning and drying of the tank, replacing the wet chemical liquid and recharging the tank up to its required psi or optimal use and function.

6 yr recharging - ABC dry chemical extinguishers call for a 6 year mandatory maintenance of their tanks.  This 6 year maintenance is required in order to keep a dry chemical extinguisher up to date with its' code compliances.  This periodic maintenance calls for the thorough cleaning and drying of the tank, replacing the dry chemical powder and recharging the tank up to its required psi or optimal use and function.

Hydrostatic Testing

All tanks: dry chemical, wet chemical and fire suppression tanks require a 12 yr mandatory maintenance hydrostatic test to remain code compliant.  This test ensures that the tank and its parts are still up to the task  and reliability  to provide the proper fire safety and extinguishing ability required during a fire.
